【摘要】:Thisfire-test-responsestandardforthecomparativesurfaceburningbehaviorofbuildingmaterialsisapplicabletoexposedsurfacessuchaswallsandceilings.Thetestisconductedwiththespecimenintheceilingpositionwiththesurfacetobeevaluatedexposedfacedowntotheignitionsource.Thematerial,product,orassemblyshallbecapableofbeingmountedinthetestpositionduringthetest.Thus,thespecimenshalleitherbeself-supportingbyitsownstructuralquality,heldinplacebyaddedsupportsalongthetestsurface,orsecuredfromthebackside.Thepurposeofthistestmethodistodeterminetherelativeburningbehaviorofthematerialbyobservingtheflamespreadalongthespecimen.Flamespreadandsmokedevelopedindexarereported.However,thereisnotnecessarilyarelationshipbetweenthesetwomeasurements.Theuseofsupportingmaterialsontheundersideofthetestspecimenhastheabilitytolowertheflamespreadindexfromthosewhichmightbeobtainedifthespecimencouldbetestedwithoutsuchsupport.Thesetestresultsdonotnecessarilyrelatetoindicesobtainedbytestingmaterialswithoutsuchsupport.Testingofmaterialsthatmelt,drip,ordelaminatetosuchadegreethatthecontinuityoftheflamefrontisdestroyed,resultsinlowflamespreadindicesthatdonotrelatedirectlytoindicesobtainedbytestingmaterialsthatremaininplace.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thetextofthisstandardreferencesnotesandfootnotesthatprovideexplanatoryinformation.Thesenotesandfootnotes,excludingthoseintablesandfigures,shallnotbeconsideredasrequirementsofthestandard.Thisstandardisusedtomeasureanddescribetheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfire-hazardorfire-riskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions..Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
